Laura writes clear, concise, and persuasive appellate briefs to win cases for clients. Before joining Terrazas PLLC, she worked as an appellate staff attorney at the First Court of Appeals in Houston, where she not only researched and wrote opinions for the court, but gained valuable insight into how to write a winning argument. Laura is both detail-oriented and appreciates the need to understand broad, complex legal issues. She began her career clerking for a federal district judge for the Southern District of Texas, and then honed her writing skills as an attorney at the Texas Legislative Council by drafting hundreds of bills for the state legislature each legislative session, many of which became law. In this role, she gained valuable experience distilling general policy goals into well-organized, concise amendments to existing law, and she furthered that skill as an appellate staff attorney by turning complex legal arguments into incisive court opinions.
